Gurgle Maps

<– Back to Map

This is an unofficial Los Santos map, made by some GTARP fans to enhance stream-watching immersion! It was made for the NoPixel WL universe (a FiveM roleplaying mod), so it differs in some ways from vanilla GTA. It aims to look like a real OpenStreetMap, so will only show things that would be public knowledge.

This map is neither complete nor free of errors. But it could be! Any corrections, ideas, and suggestions are welcome: windmind100@gmail.com

Tips & tricks

Is your mouse scrolling two zoom levels at the time on Firefox? Got to about:config and set mousewheel.system_scroll_override.enabled to false.

This map can be embedded into any page like this (the marker and zoom are optional):

<iframe src="http://npmap.monkeycove.com/?marker=3305,5180&zoom=4"
        width="800"
        height="300">
</iframe>

You can center the map without displaying a marker by changing the word marker to center.

Texture tiles

Maybe you're looking for some 4096px map texture tiles for a game map mod? Here you go: npmap-textures.zip (120 MB). The main map is in the 'combined' folder – the other folders contain a blank map and the symbols layer separated, if you happen to need that. The files are updated sporadically.

How was this made?

This map was drawn in Merkaartor. It was a great amount of manual work based on satmap, CodeWalker screenshots, GTA/NoPixel wikis etc; scripts were also used for the coastline.

The tiles were rendered with mapnik, carto, and ImageMagick. We then used a modded GTA to get an elevation map of the island, which we used to create the hill shading layer in Blender. It was manually cleaned up in a drawing program using a Wacom.

The coordinate system is the same as in GTA and this was ensured using a number of selected landmarks.

The web map uses the Leaflet JS library.
